manifested belonging is a multi-year creative research project by ajabu ajabu & friends examining the politics of film cultures and advocating for anti-formality, amateur practice, and audience-led traditions. The project uses interdisciplinary approaches to highlight case studies that enable open and inclusive film circulation, interpretation, and communion.
A major focus of this project is the world of work by Rajab Mangula, aka Dijay Black ~~~ a master ‘movie DJ’ practicing the endangered art of narrating over international films to facilitate access for working class communities across East Africa.
